The Filipinos are mourning as the first woman and 11th President of the Philippines, Mrs. Corazon C. Aquino passed away and her farewell paves way for Filipinos to unite once again after several years. It is unusual for me to pay attention with our national issues and the lives of our politicians but I realized that Cory Aquino is different because she is not the usual politician who is hunger for power.
She became a President from urgency that the Philippines need somebody to restore freedom and democracy among its people. She bravely embraced politics for her desire to re-establish the Philippine government and our constitution despite the fact that she is grieving for the assassination of her husband.
Under her governance, there were so many attempts of destabilizations and coup d’états and we faced so many financial liabilities to the world but still, she managed and successfully restored the democracy in the Philippines.
After her stint as President, she quietly left the Palace and smoothly turn-over the government to Fidel V. Ramos who succeeded her as head of the State. But Cory didn’t stop serving the Filipinos, she stayed in support and joined many causes as well as several non-profit organizations that aim to uplift the lives of the Filipinos; she then became active in prayer vigils to pray for economic change and up to her last breath, she didn’t stop praying…
I didn’t directly experience the effects of martial law because I was too young then but come to think of it, I am very grateful that somebody like Pres. Cory Aquino gave herself in serving the Philippine government after the harsh Marcos regime because without her, maybe we do not have the freedom that we are enjoying right now; we cannot live to the fullest and we cannot express our feelings the way we are doing now.
Without her courage and unselfishness, perhaps we are still forbidden to blog and express insights like these…Thank you Tita Cory. We owe you the privileges that we have now as citizens of the Philippines. I know that you will continue to pray for us. Now that you are near Him, I knew that you will still strive to uplift our lives not only as Filipinos but more importantly, as children of God.

Microsoft recently released the much awaited Windows 7 beta and if you dare to use this beta version, you can download it here.
We all know that Vista didn’t become as popular as Windows XP but this time, many people keep their hopes high with Windows 7. Why? Well because Windows 7 is designed to be faster, more reliable, and makes it easier to do what we want.
Windows 7 promised to starts up, shuts down and responds faster
And with its several theme designs, we can now choose our own desktop style. We can even enjoy a slideshow for our desktop background. It also has improved taskbar and full-screen previews and a single Devices and Printers screen that will allow you to connect, manage, and use whatever printers, phones, and other devices you have.
Hmm, I am tempted to try it soon
because I want to have a feel of Windows 7 and also to try its handwriting recognition features that is said to have greater accuracy and speed in even when you write math expressions and personalized custom dictionaries.
To try it yourself, download the Windows 7 here.

The 2008 ended with the last perigee Full Moon and now as we begin the 2009, we are lucky to witness another perigee Full Moon tomorrow, January 10, 2009!
If you have time, check this first Full Moon Cruise of the year because according to United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), perigee Full Moons come once or twice a year and when we say perigee Full Moon, it means that the moon will be brightest and biggest in appearance (around 30 % brighter and 14 % bigger than usual moon appearances).
And I think, I only seen perigee Full Moon twice during my childhood years and boy, it was lovely! I can still remember that the moon during that time is so huge, bright and seems to be just above the palm trees in our neighborhood. And hopefully, I can witness it again tomorrow and of course; I will not let that event passed without taking a picture of it.

I love the new Gmail’s Tea House Theme! At first, I didn’t know that it is changing as my local time changes so I am wondering why the background of my Gmail is sometimes with moon and stars and why there are times that the setting seems to be in afternoon. And most of all, the position and activities of the characters in the Tea House is also changing!
Then I realized that the Tea House theme has several settings that indeed follow the user’s time zone. So if I opened my Gmail in the morning, the Tea House Theme setting is in day time and the characters in the Tea House are doing some stuff that we normally do every morning. And if I opened my Gmail around 10 in the evening, the setting is night time and all the characters in the Tea House are all sleeping
.
Cool, isn’t it? Have you tried it? The Summer Ocean, Beach, Planets and Mountains Themes are likewise time-sensitive. Like me, I bet you will also like to peek what’s sitting in your background when you open your Gmail in a particular time of the day.

I love this inspirational quote; every phrase and every word in it:
“God, grant me the courage to change the things I can change,
The serenity to accept those I cannot change,
And the wisdom to know the difference.
But God, grant me the courage
Not to give up on what I think is right,
Even though I think it is hopeless.”
This quote came from the original Serenity Prayer written by Reinhold Niebuhr. Whenever I recite this passage, it helps me to be patient and hopeful against all odds.
